Introduction: I love helping students develop into musicians. From the first lesson to the last chord at their album release party, nothing beats the ah-ha moments, light bulbs, and smiles that accompany the journey of music making.

I took up lessons from Caleb Alexander for approx. six months. (and if I did not move I would still be taking them), after a period of not playing the guitar for about three years. During the time I took lessons I learned more and went further with the guitar then I had when I first started playing way back when. Caleb is the type of instructor who will be upfront and honest about where you are as a player, how you are doing and what you need to do in order to improve. He was able to make lessons engaging and productive. I would recommend him to anyone who is truly interested in learning the guitar with the disclaimer that you are getting an instructor who will not sugar coat anything and is going to push you. That being said he is understanding and will go at a pace that you as a student will need in order to get better and learn the instrument but when you are capable of doing what he is asking he knows when to push. This is the type of instructor that individuals who are serious about becoming a musician seek out and seldom find.

Caleb is a fantastic teacher! He takes what he does seriously and cares about your learning and improving. That said, he is also a lot of fun to work with, and has a ton of patience and empathy. If you are nervous and want to have a kind teacher, and/or a serious player and want a teacher who will push you to be your best, go to this guy. I'm not sure how he manages to be both at once but he does!

Caleb has taught my 10 year old guitar over the past 2 years. With Caleb's help, my child has written a couple of songs, played in front of other musicians and their parents and has grown immensely in his musical understanding and abilities. Thank you Caleb for all the joy of music you have shared with our child.

Mr Alexander was an excellent resource for my classroom! My second grade students are doing a unit on sound and how sound works. Caleb was the first person I thought of to enhance the work in our classroom. We Skype'd him all the way to Queens, NYC and the kids loved getting to see all the cool instruments he played and had a chance to ask him some questions as well. Not only is Caleb an excellent musician, he also broke down for my 7-year-olds how the different strings create different sounds.

Caleb shows passion and compassion in what he does. His guitar work, knowledge of how music evolved and what speaks to you, and his ability to work with others is superb and is key in what you look for in a teacher. I recommend Caleb!
