FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After an initial phone call to discuss the client's needs, I arrange a complimentary consult in which I answer any questions the potential client may have. I can either come to their homes, or they can meet me at my training studio in Highland Park. A 30 minute demo train is included in this complimentary consult. The client will let me know beforehand if they are interested in partaking in this sample workout. I encourage it, but let them decide whether or not they'd like to end the consult with a mini workout. I believe in making the client feel as comfortable as possible from the very beginning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After attending college, I received a certification in : Physical Education Fitness Instruction with an Emphasis in Personal Training Since then, I've had the opportunity to train, coach, and teach clients of all ages and abilities. I also have received the following certifications over the years, but most aren't current at this point. When you've had as many years experience doing what I have, a paper certification really means nothing. My clients refer friends and family and I've never had to pay for advertising. Very blessed! Prior certifications are as follows: National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer American College Of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer Aerobics Fitness Association of America Primary Group Exercise Certified Instructor American Fitness Professional and Associates Certified Pilates Instructor I American Fitness Professional and Associates Certified Pilates Instructor II Official Zumba® Jammer Zumba® Licensed Instructor Basic 1 Zumba® Licensed Instructor Basic 2 Zumbatomic® Licensed Instructor Zumba Toning® Licensed Instructor TRX® Group and Personal Training Certificate Certified Cycling Instructor (Master Training) - Schwinn & NautilusGliding – Certified Gliding Instructor, Master Training CPR ADE and First Aid Certified - American Red Cross
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After high school, I went to college on a scholarship I received for being Valedictorian. At that time I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but knew it involved something in the service industry. I wanted to give back to the community in some way and preferably in the health and fitness industry. To sum up a pretty long but great story, I got hired at three different fitness facilities in the town while attending college. I taught aerobics, trained clients and would volunteer for cleaning duties, if it allowed me to stay longer in that atmosphere. I just loved watching people better their health and knew early on, that fitness was my passion. I started my inhome fitness training business while still in college, and was making more income my first year doing that, than I would have been with the degree I was working toward. Definitely not something I would suggest to others, because it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to build it up. The income was what I needed then to prove to my family that I could succeed doing what I loved most. However, that's definitely not why I'm in this profession, and have bartered with clients at times in order to help them succeed in getting healthy and fit. I was blessed with the opportunity to be a stay at home mom when my daughters were young, while still running a successful business and earning an income. But, the main reason I've been as successful as I have over the years, is because I've never felt like I was working a day in my life. When you're doing what you love most and passionate about, it's never work. My past and current clients are my family of choice, and I adore each and every one of them. I hope to continue training and coaching others about proper nutrition, for many years to come. 😀
