Weddings are huge projects, full of expenses, and ultimately only last one day. The only things you'll have when it's all over are your memories, a few left over items, and your photographs.
Michael and Scissortail Stories was our first and BEST investment during our wedding season.
And he's only getting better.
When my now-husband and I got engaged, we agreed that what was most important to us when it came to our wedding were the pictures. We would even rearrange our budget to hire the right professional with the right style and the right attitude, if we had to.
I stumbled across Scissortail Stories while scrolling through instagram and looking at pictures posted by my favorite plant and coffee shop in the OKC area. Michael had collaborated with them and the pictures he'd posted were phenomenal. In all my browsing through friends' pictures, Wedding Wire recommendations, I had never come across his work, so I decided to view his website and within 3 minutes, I knew he was the one I wanted to capture our day. I emailed him at 10:30 that night and got a response within the hour.
We set up a meeting and when we talked, Michael's excitement about our wedding made us even more excited. He had us convinced that we were making the right choice.
We took our engagement pictures in April and of course, it rained and we were going to be hiking around outdoors. We could have rescheduled or found a new location, but my fiance and I love the rain and Michael didn't bat an eye. I was damp and cold by the end of the shoot and my hair wasn't perfect, but the pictures couldn't have been better, even if the sun had been out.
Fast forward to our wedding day, Michael met us at the hotel before we went to the venue. There was not a single time that I felt like I was on display or uncomfortable. He captured so many little details that I would have totally forgotten in the rush and stress of getting ready. He helped coordinate first looks and wedding party pictures flawlessly.
After we took the obligatory family photos at the venue, we had a couple hours to kill and we let Michael take the lead. He walked us to his favorite spots around downtown and even took us out for coffee before we had to be back for the ceremony. Those couple of hours that we spent walking around downtown were by far the most enjoyable part of our day and every image from those moments is perfection.
When I look back on the year I spent planning and preparing for our wedding, there are a few moments that really stand out - most of them, if not all, include Michael and the way he handles his profession with absolute skill, grace, and adventure.
We have amazing photographs and we have wonderful memories and we have Michael to thank for both of those.
tl;dr - 10/10 would hire again

Michael from Scissortail Stories is not only an awesome photographer but he’s a great guy to hang out with. My fiancé and I spent an entire day road tripping around Oregon with him, taking photos in some pretty harsh snow and freezing rain. He kept a light and fun attitude the whole time. He knew how to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Additionally, he had sent us several photos that very night from our shoot earlier that day. We were excited about how quick he turned the photos around and also how well he captured our excitement for having recently been engaged. Highly recommend Scissortail Stories!

Michael is one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. So cool watching him do what he loves in such a beautiful place! My girlfriend and I had such a great experience getting our photos taken in Joshua Tree National Park. Michael made the photoshoot super comfortable, easy, and fun. I would totally recommend Scissortail Stories to anyone looking to get photos or videos taken, whether it be your wedding, or just a fun couple shoot (like us).

Michael was very quick to respond and setup a time. We had a puppy and were concerned with finding a photographer that would be patient and still get us some great shots, and he delivered. Our session was quick, easy and a ton of fun. Can't recommend enough!
