Matthew Goode - Knowledgeable & Patient Math Tutor

Introduction: The journey that has taken me to have an interest in tutoring has been a winding one indeed. I was an extremely successful student, and I earned a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas. I scored a 34 on my ACT, and I had a 4.33 and 3.92 GPA in high school and college, respectively. In short, I was a very successful student in high school and college. I was a business major, and went into the business world for several years, but I didn't find much joy or purpose to my job. That's where teaching came in for me. I've been a Math teacher now since 2014. I started in Arkansas, and now have continued my teaching career here in Colorado. My goal as a teacher and as a tutor is the same: I want to make Math as easy as possible for the masses. I try my best to employ the same techniques that made me successful as a student to my current students and pupils. I find most of my success in the classroom is during the 1 on 1 instruction that occurs during work time. As a measurement of progress, both schools where I have taught have given the NWEA MAP Math assessment as a part of the curriculum. For all three 9th grade classes that I've taught, the overall achievement of growth based goals has been over 70% of my students all 3 years, and this year it's over 80% of my students! My methods work, and they work for learners all across the learning spectrum - from high achievers to students struggling to pass their class. I try to identify weaknesses that limit further learning, and strengthen them until they become second nature for the student.
