FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My general hourly rate for writing services is $75. I write very quickly and efficiently and I bill conservatively. The rate also is negotiable depending on the nature of the project and the prospect for a long term professional relationship.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would share a couple of writing samples and explore with the prospective customer what he or she was seeking from the collaboration. I would communicate with the prospective customer to be sure (1) for writing projects, that I understood the tone of the piece, how much leeway I had to be creative, the length and context, and a clear plan for staying in touch as it develops; (2) for editing projects, the depth of edit desired (substantive, copy editing [heavy or light] or proofreading), and would keep the door open so that we remain on track and in accordance with the customer's wishes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a law degree and more than 25 years of experience in the legal field. I also was an assistant editor for many years, writing and editing hundreds of articles, for a journal on public sector labor law and politics. In recent years, I have written and published my own major novel, and I now write for and host a blog.
