Hired on Thumbtack

I hired Bryant Construction and Landscaping to replace part of my front door frame, weather seal the front and back doors, seal some holes in my attic, and to clean and add debris protection to my gutters. Adam is the best general contractor I have ever hired. The quality of work was great, the price was reasonable, and he was very professional. Always on time and a great communicator. He will be getting more of my business. Update (1/12/2017): I had Adam do some more work for me around my house and had him quote a project to renovate a rundown house. At first he maintained great communication, just like the previous job, but the communication started to slip and eventually he stopped answering calls. He continued to promise to get a quote to me every day I was in contact with him "oh, I will get it to you by close of business" (a quote that the renovation loan was contingent on). The first time I lost contact with him, he told me that all his electronics were stolen. That can be understood. The second time, his child was in the hospital. That can also be understood. What cannot be understood is why he could not just tell me that he could not finish what he promised to accomplish, instead of stringing me along and make me think that he would actually complete the jobs. He did not finish the job at my home and I never received the quote, so I found another contractor. Since you will not answer my calls, I hope all is well with you Adam and that you treat your other customers the way you did when you first started doing work for me.

Adam never finished the job. He took full payment, but never returned to complete the work. I have contacted him on multiple occasions. He acknowledged he didn't finish the work and at first he said he would return to finish it, but never would show up when he said he would be there. Now he won't even respond. I gave him every opportunity. It has been 5 months. When you meet him he comes across as a nice person, but don't trust him! Now I have to find someone else and pay for the work again! I don't think I'm the only one that has had a bad experience with him. He sent me a text in error. The text was meant for another customer. He was texting photos and note to say they had damaged the home and would come back to take care of the damage. Wonder if he ever kept his word with that customer?

Bryant Construction did work for me on both a house (primarily painting and minor repairs) and condo (painting and bathroom remodel). They did great work and were very responsive even when I kept adding on additional items. I'll definitely look to use them again in the future. Thanks!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Typically if we must base it on the hour it would be between $60-$75 an hour. Painting, Floors, siding and such is based upon Square footing of job. We are on the lower end of the average pricing for our field of work in the national and local market.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It all begins by getting to know our customer. By doing so we get a better idea of what the customer may want and in some cases need. When meeting I would give a free estimate and discuss the work needed. I can give a rough estimate them on site and In many cases an exact price. I then write up a proposal to be excepted by the customer. For small handyman work there would be no need for a contract. However on larger jobs there will be the signing of a contract. And then if all is excepted we then begin work. And the customer can be a part of every step of the way. In the end we aim to please the customer.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
