Dan installed a new AC unit for me. His prices were extremely reasonable & he was very professional, courteous,& knowledgeable. I would definitely call him in the future should I need a new furnace or upkeep on my new AC.

Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

The short version: he lied about knowing how to do the job, lied about having done it correctly, and lied when he agreed to repay me after I found these things out. The long version: I hired Dan on Thumbtack to install a 220V dryer outlet in my basement. He showed up late and didn't have enough materials to finish the job, so he had to come back later. The second time he was also late - but he was always very apologetic and courteous so I didn't hold it against him. However, I could not stay at my house while he finished the job so I left him with a check and told him that I trusted him to get the job done. BIG MISTAKE. Later in the day he sent me a text that the work was done and he tested the outlet and that it was working. When I got home I plugged in my dryer and turned it on.... only to find that it did not work. I called a certified electrician and explained the situation, he and I together found the following: 1) The improper type if wire was used, so the outlet was not grounded. 2) The wiring was done incorrectly, so it was only capable of providing 110V of power 3) However, because something was damaged in the wire (possibly a splice) it was actually proving no power at all. 4) The wiring was spliced in two different places using just electrical tape and caps, no junction boxes 5) Two different types of wire were used, neither type is the proper type of wire for the job 6) Nails were used to attach the wire to the joists, instead of wire staples. These nails were just bent over the wire. In one case, it broke through the insulation 7) The wire was not properly secured to the breaker box Dan claimed that he is a certified electrician and he offered that he could come and take a look to fix it, but I declined. Given how many things were wrong with the first job he did... how could I possibly trust him to run electrical in my house again? He instead agreed to give me back my money in exchange for his materials . However, it has now been a few weeks now and he has not returned my money. He was supposed to come yesterday but he didn't show up nor did he call me. I'm just glad that he really screwed the job up badly enough that the power didn't run. Given how dangerously it was wired, it could have started a fire. I hired Dan because I was worried about doing something like this myself and putting my family at risk. Instead he put my family at risk. Shame on him for pretending to know how to do this work, and just 'winging it.'

Shame on you for lying about the job and work that needed to be completed not explaining exactly what or how far your outlet was from the breaker box .Your the type of person that wants something for nothing.YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND THAT IS SOMETHING YOU DONT WANT TO DO.It seems funny you are my only bad review.??????? **CAUTION**Dont do work for this man.
