We made it a solid week in our new home when our basement started to flood. Turned out to be backing up sewage from a plugged main line. The plumbers came and did a great job clearing it out, then cleaning the sewage the sprayed back, but there was a lingering smell of fresh fecal down there. I got in touch with someone who works there, and said that they could get the funk be gone down there to clean it up. I was glad to hear that I wouldn't have to throw away my nice rugs, and i didn't have to go to town with some fresh chemicals myself and then deal with the inhalation of my personal chemical cocktail. Not only did they do a great job cleaning it up, but the cats are free to roam around because they used some organic cleaning. My basement is fresh as the spring air, and is liveable again.
