FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I develop estimates based on an hourly fee. With my experience, I have a comparatively high hourly rate, but the upside is that I am fast. I like to quote on a project basis, and I'm happy to work if possible within a client's budget once I know what it is.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I generally schedule a meet-and-greet so we can get to know each other, review my samples, and talk about what needs to be done. Once we define a project, I like to develop a Creative Brief, outlining all the parameters, including an estimate. Then I interview my resources, do the research, and write the first draft. My fees generally include a revision with some minor tweaks. If clients need help with branding or marketing strategy, I assist on an hourly basis.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with an English major, but that was a long time ago. From 1980 until today, I have been a freelance writer, and I have written almost every kind of marketing and employee communication that a business could need. I've worked for architectural and construction firms, world class hospitals and dentists in private practice, Fortune 100 energy companies and small entrepreneurial shops. I also do my own social media, blogging and website content updating. I am learning every day.
