Introduction: I'm thorough. I'll start editing as soon as I see changes are necessary. If you list "facts," I will double-check them to make sure they're accurate. If something needs to be rewritten, I'll do it, but I'll strive to keep the writer's voice intact. And I'm usually available at the drop of a hat. I like the written word and I believe that words do matter. Stories need to not only be well-written, but clear and concise to eliminate any misunderstanding. I enjoy the process of editing. Not only do you make something better, but you also "write." I was an English major at the University of Houston, but it was with a concentration on creative writing, so I know about writing fiction and non-fiction. I've written both. But I gravitated toward editing. Since I know what grabs a reader and holds their attention, I make sure your content does that as well. Your work is a representation of your name.

I hired Ed De La Garza to edit my most recent novel. From the very first contact he showed an interest in adding value to the project. Not just with his words - with his actions. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Normal price for editing is 2 cents per word. However, to attract more clients, I'll typically edit a project for a penny per word here.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer receiving the document in Word format, and I'll email the client with any questions as the work progresses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was an English major with a concentration in creative writing. I was also the editor in chief of my college newspaper, and have freelanced as a writer and copy editor since then.
