FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I price in two different ways, the main being hourly rates. Generally I average between $17-$30 per hour for projects with no real idea on how long its going to take. The second being pricing for the job itself regardless of hours. I usually price this way when dealing with package service such as Staining a deck. I would package everything together including the Pressure washing, sanding, any repairs and the staining. Every job seems to be different in its own little way. I like to give discounts to new clients as well to help persuade developing new potential future clients.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process is pretty straight forward and takes a lot of the stress out of projects. Before the scheduled start date of the project If im sensing hesitance or getting a lot of questions I'll go above and beyond with trying to explain it to the client. I provide receipts for everything and always provide a Independent Contractor Agreement form which lays out exactly what I will be doing, what materials/supplies I have to purchase and their cost, my specific business practices such as how late I stay at a job site and when and how you pay for my services. I would prefer to provide too much information then leave the client trying to fill in the blanks. I am a little OCD with my work ethic and it has and will cost me again in the future. There is something to be said about track records and the quality of my work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I dont have any technical certifications yet, however I will be EPA 608 Universal certified by Summer 18' which will let me do a lot more HVAC work. I am also getting NSPF CPO certified so I can add another niche market to my abilities. All of my experience falls back on my lifetime of being in and around the skilled trades. My father was a General Contractor and I grew up working on weekend projects with him and dropping in to job sites occasionally on the weekend. I have just shy of 6 years now having worked Construction as a carpenter, Lead apartment maintenance work and owning my own business building, staining and repairing decks. I thoroughly enjoy working with my hands and building up my client base and I think that strong work ethic shows in my work and is the reason I have repeat customers.
