FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm mostly self taught, but do attend classes that are hosted by local artists.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I accidentally stumbled upon the idea. I'd been watching YouTube videos about investing, when one of the YouTubers started discussing various part-time/weekend jobs to quickly boost your savings. As soon as face painting was mentioned, saving and investing just seemed like secondary benefits of an awesome opportunity. I stopped the video and began researching the idea. I've been drawing and painting for decades, but the idea of face painting never even remotely crossed my mind. I didn't have to give it a second thought. It's a combination of two things that I love, working with children and painting.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Fortunately, my very first gig was a community festival. Successfully working that gig (which seemed like a pure miracle at the time) made me aware of my capabilities as a lone face painter. I've painted for corporate events, camps, community festivals, non-profits/churches, and plenty of birthday parties. To my surprise, the most common has been churches/camps, typically ranging from 25-50 children/teens.
