- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started working at JcPenny's Lifetouch Studio in 2010 as an Associate Photographer and Sales Representative. After 1 year, I soon realized that I wanted to be out in the field capturing the stories instead of "photographing" posed sets, duplicating the same photos over and over again. In the Spring of 2011, I photographed my first wedding and I was hooked. I was in love with the freedom that photographing weddings gave me. I was no longer shackled to a small room with limited creativity. The following month, I left my job at Lifetouch Studios and started my company full-time. The rest is history!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As important as budget is, realize that it’s not all about money. Flowers wilt, food and wine are consumed and a great party becomes a faded memory over time. However, aside from your rings (and your spouse of course!), the photographs are the only tangible reminder you will keep from the whole day. It’s worth investing in a quality team who understands how you want to record your special day. Do not gamble with these memories by only considering price when you decide on your photographer.
