FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been certified as a paraprofessional by my county school board to serve as educational and behavioral assistance in the classroom. I am currently still finishing my degree in Special Education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out working toward a degree in Special Education, because of both positive and negative experiences with ADHD. I was soon requested to be a perish tutor for a 1st grade girl in the foster system, whose grades had dropped drastically after moving to her new home. I was able to help her pull D's and F's up to A's and B's. The next school year, I was hired by the Americorps Program, where I tutored 20 elementary students individually in reading literacy. The next year, I was hired as a para for my old middle school, and I have worked with struggling inclusion/ESE students in math and reading subjects ever since. I love what I do and I'm ready to expand my outreach to more students and parents in need.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Which specific days are you (or your child) available for tutoring? Are you comfortable using programs like Skype to serve as the tutoring medium? Do you have texts and assignments that we can reference to help your child complete needed work while relearning the concepts? If you put multiple times available, do you have a *preferred* time of day?
