Introduction: Photography had always been a part of my life, even when I didn’t consider it something I would one day do for a career. When I was younger, my father always made sure to have a camera in the family, introducing me to the different technologies over time. He always wanted the newest innovation so I got to try pioneering cameras as a child without even knowing it. As I grew a little older I developed an interest in digital photo manipulation – what is now known today as “photoshopping”. Most of my interest remained a hobby, however, until circa 2015, when Lynzi (my wife) and I opened Pomegranate Underground – Contemporary Art Gallery and Boutique. The gallery was inside a small workspace in Lewisville and within the first year, we won the best art gallery of Denton County. It was then when the first seeds of Pombomb Media began to germinate. In time, we met with the city and with the help of their event planner at the time, helped develop their “Art Demonstration Center” for ColorPalooza where we would gather local artists together to showcase their crafts and sell art to attendees at the festival. We’ve been doing it ever since. During our conversations with the artists (both in our gallery and during the festivals), we noticed a void in services tailored to artisans relating to art imaging. Artists were either getting prints made that were too cheap in quality to sell or too expensive to really profit from. We stepped in and bought our own large format printer and DSLR with the mission to help artisans attain high-quality printing at affordable pricing. We ended up moving into what was known at the time as “Vista Ridge Mall” but about a year later our company’s fate would change. We had to close our physical doors but it led to opening new ones. This was the birth of Pombomb Media. In the beginning, we were mainly doing graphic design, creating logos for local businesses, and imaging for existing artisan clients. It wasn’t until our friends at Quality Goods Records gave us the opportunity to photograph UZ during a performance at Stereo Live in Dallas that I realized the direction I wanted our company to go in – event coverage. The rest is just a hustle. Having an ambitious drive I knew that the only way to grow our company was to get out there and put ourselves in the right places to get what we wanted. With that mentality, we’ve been able to personally photograph clients like Our Little Miss Beauty Pageant, Amara La Negra, $lobby Robby, DFW Vintage Swap Meet, Barside Jive, SNP, and more.
