Introduction: I have worked in the nutrition field for over 25 years as a dietitian and diabetes educator. Three years ago, I left standard medicine to work as a consultant. This year, I opened Lighter Life Nutrition. The concept behind Lighter Life Nutrition is based on my many years of experience and the struggles I have observed (and personally experienced) as my clients struggle to improve their health, and stay healthy within a hectic environment that often encourages habits that are in direct contrast to health. My practice is based on the observation that knowing what to do and actually doing it can be very different. Individual appointments, visit packages, and monthly memberships are available. Designed especially for you based on your personal goals, sound nutrition practices, and the support and accountability most need for success. I have many options available for the busy lifestyle- in-person office visits, videoconferencing for appointments on the go, and a client portal and tracking app that keeps us connected, and allows you to track your specific goals. If exercise or fitness are part of your goals, I have a background in exercise physiology and have teamed up with a personal trainer. Together we offer Nutrition/Fitness Plans that are aimed at your specific health needs. I do not travel to my clients (my trainer may) but have an office conveniently located in Libertyville. When I finally decided that I had to take control and live a healthier lifestyle I was referred to Elizabeth (Liz) Giamis of Lighter Life Nutrition by my Family Doctor. Upon introduction at our first session of four, I knew I was in the right classroom with a person that I could help me reach my goals. There were eight of us in her class, each of us with a different health concerns and issues, yet all of us with the same common goal to gain control of our weight. Liz not only had the uncanny ability to teach a class, but also to reach out and work with our individual needs in an easy to understand approach. Her methods were practical and pragmatic in that we all felt our goals were not overwhelming, but realistic and reachable. She is a master in communication techniques that had all of us willing to engage and eagerly participate in the classroom. It provided a contagious optimism and a “can do” attitude within all of us. It was fun!! Liz provided written handouts at each session that were easy to read and follow. Liz also made herself available to any of her students/clients by providing her phone/text number, and email for support. She is most professional and yet very personable, just a terrific person. So if you need any kind of help or support in achieving your goals, I do highly recommend that you contact Liz. I am so glad I did, not only am I on a sound path in losing weight but I am extending years to my life for my family and myself. My energy levels have soared!! I highly recommend the Lighter Life Nutrition Program! It has helped me focus on my eating habits and how to motivate me to make healthy food choices. Working with Liz has made a tremendous positive impact on my life. Her feedback helps me stay on track. The Healthie App is an excellent communication tool for support, an added bonus! It helps me track my food (with photos too) and receive direct communication/feedback from Liz herself. Anyone looking to learn about meal and snack planning will benefit from the Lighter Life Nutrition Program. And it's easy to track and goal set a fitness plan/exercise goal. Between learning to build new habits with nutrition and exercise, I already feel better and stronger. I look forward to future sessions!
