It got hot late last week and so on Saturday (04/29/17) I turned on my AC after the long rainy season and guess what my AC didn't want to function. the fan wasn't working and I tried youtube to see if I can figure it out myself and that didn't go no where. At this time decided I need to go with the pro. started my Yelp reviews and calling my friends. on of my friends mentioned to me about Thumbtack. I went into Thumbtack and requested a quote for my AC repair. I got quote from a dozen contractors from $0 to $72 diagnostic cost. Kevin from East Bay Heating & Air was one among them. Kevin is the owner of the East Bay Heating & Air services and employees a team of 7. I was trying to get someone to come take a look at it on Sunday knowing that the coming days are going to be super hot. Kevin was the only person who decided to come over and take a look at it on Sunday. Kevin was very professional, polite, respectful, communicative, and took the time to explain what is going on with my unit. He also took the time to check my Nest device, AHU, and heater to make sure there is no issue in any of the device. Kevin quickly diagnosed that the motor fan is busted and took picture of the model of the motor. As he was looking at this he also diagnosed for other problems, he identified the disconnect switch was also busted and was not doing its job of cutting power to the AC unit (a major safety issue). Kevin took note of that and turned off the breaker at the main control panel for safety reasons. Once the issue in hand was identified and action plan was established, I started discussing with Kevin options to replace the entire heating & AC unit in my home. he took his time to explain to me all the brands out there, SEER ratings, single stage to double stage etc. Kevin was not rushing or in all of this didn't attempt to sell me anything. no pressure which was great. I requested a quote for replacing the entire system and Kevin quickly assembled a quote and emailed me on the same day. He also promptly replied to all my queries, remember this is all happening on a Sunday. later on that day I decided not to proceed with the whole replacement project even though Kevin's estimate was reasonable since I just did other improvement projects at my home and didn't want undertake this project at this time. When I got back to Kevin on this he was professional and agreed with me that this is the right thing to do. Kevin reaffirmed that he his going to procure the fan motor part and the disconnect switch. Once getting the parts will be at my home on Monday and take care of this work order. On Monday morning he promptly followed up with a call at 10:00am and confirmed that I wanted the motor to be replaced before he bough the parts. At 12pm he was at my home making the repair and as he did it he also cleaned my AC unit. Installed the new disconnect switch and included a compressor saver kit as my AC unit was from 90s. I worked for a big company for 8 years services all types of gas furnaces and Air conditioners. From high efficiency to standard attics or crawls space systems I've do it all.
