Robin was amazing! She sent me pictures so I knew my cat was well looked after. When I came back from my trip my cat was happy and stress free since she was able to be looked after in her own environment.

About this pro

I'm a long time pet sitter and dog walker with many clients, who have been with me for years. My job is to keep the dog or cat's routine the same, so there is no stress for either the pet or the client and everyone is happy. I offer dog walking, cat sitting, and overnight pet sitting as well as vacation petsitting. My rates are (for two dogs or two cats): 15 minutes is $15 30 minutes is $20 60 minutes is $25 Overnight petsitting is $70 for 12 hours, which is less than (3) 1 hour dog walks. Dogs get (3) walks or whatever they're used to walking and the dogs can sleep with me, if they sleep with the client. Vacation petsitting is $70 overnight, plus $10 for the rest of the day. Unlike most petsitters, I do vacation petsitting, which is almost 24 hour a day petsitting. It means the client's home becomes my homebase. I stay at the client's home for the duration of the petsit. Since I have other dog walking or cat feeding commitments during the day, I only charge an additional $10 for the rest of the day. I do this because I don't want to spend time figuring how many hours I spent on taking care of my other clients. On the whole, overnight petsitting works out best for my client because I often spend anywhere from 16-24 hours a day with their pet and that's far more time than they could book hourly. It also means less travel for me. My clients love me because I take amazing pictures of their pets and the emailed/texted photos are an extra assurance that I am there looking after their loved ones. I've even done Facetime with my clients, so they can see their furry loved ones. My clients love me because they know that weekly clients and vacationing clients get a very favorable discount. We can always work something out to keep everyone happy. I'm there for my clients: If they have a 16-year-old and 35 lb beagle with cancer and incontinence who needs to be carried outside several times a day/night. Or if they have a 5 a.m. flight and they need me at their house at 4 A.M Or if my clients forgot their medication or passports and they need me to FedEX it stat. My clients trust me to get the job done because I operate on the golden rule and the boys scout rule of leave no trace; this means I treat your pets and your home the way I would want my pets and my home treated. I clean before I leave. I don't clean the whole house, but the areas that I used or the pets messed up get wiped down or vacuumed. My only Achilles Heel is that I can't make a bed to save my life. I always give my clients more than the clients expect because their pets are worth it. And I honestly enjoy every second I spend with their pets. I get so much joy, laughter, and relaxation from dogs and cats. It's that simple. Dogs and cats make me happy. I truly enjoy my work. I love taking cat and dog photos. I really like turning on my creative side and using my 20+ years of Photoshop to turn my photos into something special clients would like to own. It's a different kind of memento. I will post some of creative photos to my Thumbtack media. And now most of my clients have given me permission to use my photos of their pets in my online store at: [https:]//inktale.com/OverandOutOXOX You can see a ton of my photos on my instagram feed: @overandoutpetsitting Since I work by myself, I'm hoping the extra income from this store will help pay some bills, if I get laid up by an accident or my breast cancer returns. I don't expect to make a lot of money because I think my only buyers will be my clients. ; D

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I operate by time. $15 for 15 minutes (a pee break), $20 for 30 minutes. $25 for 60 minutes. Longer overnight petsitting is $70. For vacation petsitting, I charge $70 for overnight and $10 for rest of the day because I may have other dog walking jobs. It invariably works out that the overnight petsitting customer has me at their home and looking after their pets for upwards of 20 hours.
    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I set up a free one hour consultation. I have to meet the dog or cat and the pet owner to learn the pet's routine and habits. I have to see it in person, so I can ask a thorough list of questions. It also gives me an opportunity to see the dog on a walk and to learn if he has any triggers and how the owner corrects the dog.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been petsitting since I was in high school. I've been certified for pet first aid, but luckily I've never had to use it.
