Introduction: I'm a CELTA certified ESL and TOEFL teacher, and I've been tutoring private students in ESL and writing for 6 years. I don't just tell students the "right" way to say or write something--I listen. I pay attention to the core of what they're trying to say, and help them express it in fluid English while staying true to their intent.
I teach for the "Aha!" moments when my student starts communicating better by himself or herself than he or she did at the beginning of the lesson. I get excited when I can see progress, no matter how small in students who didn't have confidence in the beginning.
