Introduction: When high school and college level students are stopped by police, their behavior can be perceived as an act of aggression, often to their detriment. From my experience in the military, my own experience of being stopped and the fact that my son was shot and killed by police, I show youths how they can do their part, to have safe interactions with police through a simple process called VANN Up.

Rogers was a dynamic speaker at our conference for the Boys and Girls Club. His topic “What to Do When Stopped by the Police” was so appropriate for our times. We were surprise that the girls in the audience were so attentive during his presentation. Both males and females can benefit from information about safety when dealing with law enforcement. Several adults and teens expressed that Rogers was an excellent speaker and that his information was not only positive but something they could really use. I appreciated that his approach was balance and did not bash law enforcement.
