I hired Chris to help me with Finley, my 9 year old corgi mix. I live downtown Chicago and Finn had high anxiety and a lack of obedience training, leash aggression, and socialization issues. Chris came to my apartment and walked us through positive reinforcement training with treats and commands. He was incredibly professional, thorough, and patient with us. Finley is now able to go on walks, knows his obedience commands, and is overall MUCH less anxious and seems so much happier! Chris will next work with us to fully socialize Finley with other dogs and we are excited! Five stars to chris and I would recommend him to everyone!Nov 25, 2018VerifiedTakacs Dog Training LLC's reply
Thank you Rebecca for the kind and positive review. I am so happy that Finley is doing so much better. I have really enjoyed working with both of you and I look forward to continuing to help you in making progress with Finley and helping him to have a calm and happy life.
Working with Chris has been an absolute joy. If you are looking for a trainer for your dog, you will not believe how big a help Chris will be for you and your dog. For example: I was walking Kona down the sidewalk when someone with her dog asked if I used a trainer because Kona was the best behaved dog she had ever seen. She was so impressed, she reached out to Chris for her own dog! We could tell within minutes of talking with Chris that he truly cares about the dogs he works with and about us as the parents. His passion for dogs is clearly evident and his knowledge and ability to help matches his love of dogs. When we first were looking for a trainer, part of it was due to wanting to make sure we were teaching her correctly, and part was due to a resource guarding. After we had our first session with Chris, the resource guarding issue was taken care of in about 5 minutes! He also helped us significantly in how she plays with other dogs, she walks next to me, does tricks on command, and he helped with how she behaves around the house. Strongly recommend using Chris!Oct 28, 2017VerifiedTakacs Dog Training LLC's reply
Catherine, I want to thank you, John and of course Kona for allowing me the opportunity to work with you and have such a great experience along the way. Much of the credit goes to you and John for being so diligent in being such great partners in providing Kona an opportunity to always succeed. All the best to you.
So far, he did a great job dealing with this crazy dog mom.May 12, 2019Verified
Before Chris I had a crazy hyper Chocolate Lab puppy. After Chris we had a well behaved puppy who actually listened with any harm to our puppy. His methods are great! He uses positive reinforcement to teach, not shock collars or any other harmful method. If you think of your pet as family then Chris is tour guy for training!!!May 10, 2019Verified
Chris is awesome, answers our questions quickly. We have a 3 yr old dog, 10 month old dog and just lost our 18 yr old dog. The other two started fighting since we lost him. Chris figured it out quickly and is helping us calm them back down. Very knowledgeable. Checks in often and always available when we have issues. Absolutely recommend himMar 15, 2019VerifiedTakacs Dog Training LLC's reply
Thank you very much Martha for your very positive review. I am very glad I have been able to help. I appreciate the great work all of you have been doing as well.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My single session fee is $75. A four session Basic Obedience Program is $280. A five session Puppy Kindergarten Program or a five session Anxiety and Fear Program is $350. I will provide free training support via phone, text or email for the life of your dog. If you adopted your dog from a rescue or shelter a portion of your paid fees will be donated to that shelter.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I will first conduct a free phone consultation where I will learn all I can about your needs for you and your dog. I will also provide you with all of the information that you feel you need to know about myself and my training methods which are force free and positive reinforcement. We will then decide together the type and length of training that will be best suited for your dog. We will then set up an appointment for your first training session. Hopefully everyone in the home can attend this first session. The first session will begin by going back over the information that was gained in the phone consultation with everyone in attendance. This will ensure that all of us are on the same page. As I begin to work with your dog I will begin including everyone in attendance to participate as well. This will allow you to learn and be comfortable with the training homework that will be needed to achieve your desired behavior in your dog. Everyone's participation on a consistent basis is the key to a successful dog training program.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I received my training and certificate from the FernDog Trainer Academy. I am currently studying in the Ian Dunbar Academy Program. I also attend additional seminars and programs to pursue continuing education. I am a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.
