Never thought I'd be one of those people setting my alarm to wake up at the crack of dawn, but when you discover/develop a serious thirst for physical and mental improvement, the tendency is to push it as far as you can (insert Hunter S. Thompson reference). There's something to be said about having the early morning all to yourself; It's meditative. Hopefully in the way of a fresh start. New day brings new possibilities. Am I sounding too "New-Agey?" I promise I'm going somewhere with this. Fast forward to one of those early mornings in my new apartment. I was gearing up to go for my usual 3-mile run when I spontaneously decided to check out the West Hollywood Equinox. I know, I know it's membership is crazy expensive and most of us can't quite justify dishing that much cash once a month but when you're driven by a goal, I promise you it's a small price to pay. I get there and go through the membership signing-up process and instantly hit the floor for about 20 minutes of stretching. I'm already quite energetic and proceed to 45 minutes of High Intensity Intervals. You can already guess that I'm quite dead by the end of it. However, a wave of endorphins by this point has invaded my body. Off to a good start! On my way out, I'm checking out the wall of personal trainers, no reason really other than that I'm genuinely interested in their dedication to fitness and personal training. Sameem Rouhani one of the personal trainers, a real solid guy; friendly and not too overbearing, which you can encounter at gyms of this caliber. We strike up a convo. I tell him I'm new and we schedule my free personal training session for the very next day. We start with some body composition tests and talk about goals. I tell him I know very little about fitness and that I've always wanted to learn how to work out properly. "That's what I'm here for. Trust me," he says, and so we begin. I didn't know it then but he'd also become a friend. His energy was contagious. He explained how each muscle in the body moves, what it does and what we need to fuel it all. His background in physiology, yes he has one, truly elevates his skills for personal training along with his healthy obsession for nutrition and overall health. It's been about 3 months now and I already feel like a different person -- and we're only just getting started. Honestly, the physical part is only a portion of it. What it's done for me mentally is quite fascinating. He curated a plan that's both exciting and challenging while educating at the same time. He'd follow up with me on my days off to see how I was doing, and offer earnest advice. The guy is truly one of a kind and I always look forward to our training 3-to-4 times a week bright and early in the morning!

Sameem is the BEST!!! Very knowledgeable and he keep close contact with his clients. His training sessions will give you all aspects of living a healthy life. I highly recommended Sameem for ones personal trainer.

About six months ago I was working out one evening and a trainer came up to me asking if I wanted some tips. Bear in mind I belong to a very posy, high end, gay gym (it's the closest one to me), but not really knowing much about physical training, having just learnt as I go, I took my chances. As it turned out, the trainer - Sameem Rouhani - wasn't hitting on me but was genuinely just showing me how to up my game and offered me a couple of free training sessions to boot. We trained at a difficult period in my life. We talked about life, philosophy, attitude, habits and general well being. Sameem is as genuine as they come and it was always a pleasure to see him in the gym following the trainings we did. He would ask how I was doing and was always positive, full of vibe and warmth. About 3 months later the gym offered me a free session. I asked Sameem if he'd do the session with me. He was super cool about it. I mentioned I train about an hour a day (6 days a week) but didn't feel my results matched the effort I was putting in. Instead of showing me techniques he devised a simple and easy to follow diet plan. 3 months later I'm in the best shape of my life. I can't recommend this guy highly enough. He's super knowledgeable about diet, calisthenics, peak performance and many other aspects of fitness, is a trained life coach and is all about people being the best version of themselves and getting the most out of life. If you're looking for a great trainer who is friendly, results driven and affordable in the LA area, Sameem is your man!!

Sameem Rouhani is an exceptional trainer. His level of professionalism and diverse skill set are unsurpassed. Every session I learn new ways of moving that enhance my conditioning, strength and endurance. As a professional dancer, his methodology makes sense for me.   • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I'm certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I also have a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from Middle Tennessee State university. I am constantly going to workshops, seminars and national events about exercise science, nutrition, sports specific training, injury rehabilitation, etc.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I got my first taste of fitness in 2005 after a wrestling injury left me sidelined and in a downward spiral that would lead me to gain 20 lbs and lose about 80% of the strength in my left leg. Instead of letting that stop me, however, it motivated me to get into shape and ultimately embark on a career as a fitness coach and personal trainer. I love to motivate my clients to reach their goals, both in the gym and in life. To achieve the most effective, safe and fun workout programs for you, I will take into account your habits and lifestyle to make sure we maintain a sustainable balance. As your Redux diamond trainer, I will teach you what living “healthy” really means while empowering you to end the “age of starvation diets” by changing the way you think and feel about exercise and nutrition.
