Mike's Custom Painting in Mount Pleasant
About this pro
We recently hired Mike to stain several outdoor stairways and decks. He was very professional and did a great job. He thoroughly prepared the areas and was neat with no drips. We highly recommend him for your next project.Aug 13, 2018
Mike has done several jobs for me. I’ve always been completely satisfied. I don’t usually recommend people but I highly recommend Mike. He’s just a good, honest guy doing an honest days work for a reasonable price. Captstevewillard@aol.comJan 18, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We basically look at our pricing this way... What is the percentage of the profit a company could make from a lost job? Very simple...ZERO. So, we want to earn every job-every time. Even if it is very budget formatted, we will hope for a return call for that later job. The pricing I have set up for this company is pretty basic. It is not based by square footage as is all of the new construction. This pricing can price a job "too high". But, rather on a job to job basis...I oversee all the estimates which allows me to keep things very simple and fair across the board. Whether you live in a condo or a 3 story home, the labor and paint price will always factor out evenly...I basically look at the project; immediately determine the amount of paint and then factor in the labor. I can price out an entire home within minutes. Which helps you, the client, get back to what is most important. Your daily routine...
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm glad Thumbtack asked this question...Basically to become a Painting Contractor in the United States requires a few simple licenses. None of which educate the client on the skill level of that company. Reviews help, but they can be mass produced these days using clever tactics. However, in Germany, many written and labor performed tests and schooling are required to obtain ones painting license. I know this for the firm I worked with back in the 1980's definitely informed me of this and taught me well...They were based on Hilton Head Island, SC. I was fortunate enough to start my career out with them, Dieters Painting and later Yeanns Painting in Charleston, SC and never looked back. They taught me from the ground up...
