Introduction: "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken" -Oscar Wilde I believe everyone is their own individual with amazing characteristics and qualities. My job is to invite you to find those for yourself, pursuer your values, passions, and goals; all while exploring your authentic self and identity. Helping people is my number one passion in life. My passion started at a very young age, and I am fortunate enough to have found the profession that fits my passion perfectly. As a therapist and a coach, understand that people need different things at different times. I love that everyone is different and has different needs, I am here to meet your health and wellness needs, your emotional needs, communication needs, and other areas you are looking to transform! I have worked with males and females from ages 8-65 and have learned that in order for therapy to be effective, there has to be flexibility and structure tailored to each individual. I am open to meeting in different settings and involving your friends and family if that would be impactful. Your commitment is just as important as mine to make sure that you are able to have freedom from your struggles and live the life you deserve.

Ms. Jaramillo volunteered and came to speak to 7th and 8th graders about developing a positive personal identity - driving home the idea that all individuals should be able to feel comfortable and confident! Laura began with letting the kids know that it is important to work on finding your IDENTITY - and finding your identity is a journey - it continually evolves - middle schoolers, to high schoolers, to your 20s and beyond. Part of your identity is being OK with who you are and who you are not. She asked the kids if they realized that they have a voice. That all of us have that inner voice that talks to ourselves inside. Laura asked us to start really listening to that voice to see how we are treating ourselves.....is the self talk positive or negative? Self talk can definitely affect our self esteem. The kids need to direct their self talk to more positive affirmations about themselves. Laura asked to be aware of how their friends talked out loud about themselves. Point out if their self talk is negative, or putting down. Tell your friends to focus their comments on themselves on the positive things - stop saying 'I'm stupid, or I'm ugly...... Laura stressed we are all different - different races, ethnicities, different interests and likes, etc. and the kids need to start focusing on being confident in who they are and what they like. Laura talked about body language.....for instance, stating 'I had a great weekend horseback riding' in a hunched over, mumbling, no eye contact to your peers states something much different than if you stood tall, talked with excitement and made good eye contact. Laura said confident body language can do a lot to express one's beliefs and likes and projects that on the people they are telling. Laura closed by showing a YouTube clip called Always #LikeAGirl. It was based on girls' prospectives, but Laura said anyone can relate to the overall message of this clip. The clip stresses don't take what others/world/social media say you should be or do or act. Believe in yourself so much that you be or do or act WHO YOU ARE - who you are comfortable being. Laura illustrated how much she cares about this issue and was very knowledgeable. We were lucky to have her speak to our middle schoolers.

Laura did an outstanding job presenting to our group regarding eating disorders. She was knowledgeable and articulate, but still accessible and clear in her explanations. She was excellent in answering any questions and addressing any concerns that individuals had regarding eating disorders. We will definitely be having her back to speak to our group again!

Laura did an amazing job working with clients at a body image workshop. Whether individuals were struggling with an eating disorder or just body image issues, she connected with everyone and facilitated a welcoming environment where they could create art and process feelings. We are excited to work with her in the future!
