FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with new customers my first task is to listen to them, hear what brought them to see me and have them articulate their goals. Then I would walk them through several assessments to discover their Enneagram personality type and attachment style. Finally, I educate them on the process of Internal Family Systems. This systems believes that our minds are not one thing but made up of many parts. This parts/True Self methodology helps clients understand how they can have differing views on the same subject and what to do about it. What I observe is that this tension or "polarity" between parts is what causes people so much suffering.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School. I have training in Internal Family Systems, the Enneagram and Adult Attachment
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was an accountant for three and a half years before going to graduate school when I was 28 years old. I was miserable in my accounting job and dreaded getting up and going to work. I knew I needed a change and spent a year trying to discover what it is that I was meant to do. Even after years of being a therapist it still took time to figure out that one of the purposes of my life is to help alleviate unnecessary suffering and help people discover what is worth suffering for (what I call sacred suffering).
