FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Being that I find myself doing a variety of odd work while moving things, rather than quoting at flat rates I have an hourly rate to make for ease of quoting. I have a $35 minimum charge and that covers the first hour. Anything after the first hour goes down to $25 an hour. There's also a $0.50 per mile from point A to point B fuel charge or accumulative mileage if multiple trips are necessary. Those rates are for just one person and one truck. For two men and one truck the minimum charge is $55 for the first hour. It then goes down to $45 an hour any hour after the first. $0.50 a mile again from point A to point B.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with new customers good communication is key. I always find myself having a 5 to 10 minute conversation about the items that need to be moved. What kind of care that they would like to be taken with their belongings, as well as find out if this is something that I will be able to handle myself. If not we find out if my customer will be able to help me. And if not then we discuss my 2 man rates at that point. A lot of times people will just call for a quote then will call others for quotes. That's fine and I encourage that because most times people come back and say that I was a fantastic deal.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I wouldn't say that I have any real education or training moving peoples things for them, however I have been moving peoples things with them or for them my entire life. Having a mom who is super picky about not dinging walls or nicking furniture made transitioning into moving peoples things professionally for them much easier. Taking care of your belongings while I'm moving them is just second nature. Me and my truck has been around for about 2 years now and the most common compliment I get from people, is that they can tell that I really know what I'm doing. Do not take me the wrong way. I am NOT tooting my own horn. However I am very proud of the fact that I do hear that quite frequently from people.
