I hired Essa Studios to build a set of cabinets for a master bath remodel. I had not worked with them before so I wanted to be absolutely clear about my requirements and make sure there were no miscommunications -- which, as every experienced remodeler knows, can sink even the most carefully planned project. I sent Essa Studios a detailed PDF with a sketch of the cabinets annotated with the desired dimensions as well as a narrative description of the project reiterating the dimensions, and other information relevant to the cabinet size and configuration. For example, I provided the specs for the Kohler sinks I was using, noting that they are on the large side for vanity sinks.
My efforts to ensure that the cabinets were constructed to my specifications were in vain, because Essa Studios delivered and installed cabinets that were 2" shallower than my specifications, making installation of the sinks very difficult. I did not catch the error before the custom stone countertop and backsplash were installed, in part because Essa Studios changed the installation date at the last minute. There were no fewer than 4 additional serious errors requiring refabrication of the end panel and doors.
The principal was unable to offer any explanation other than "I don't know what I was thinking" and, worse, seemed not to be able to think of any process improvements he could adopt to reduce the number of measuring errors on future projects. The cabinets look nice but they and the countertop are unnecessarily skimpy due to Essa Studios' inability to fabricate what I ordered. Very disappointing overall.
