FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A customer gets in touch with a vision for what they want to communicate to the world. I propose a set of deliverables, such as digital content, print publications or advocacy materials, and the time it will take for me to complete the work. The customer can review my proposal, pick and choose which items they want to pursue, and agree to move forward from there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a master's degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, where I studied long-form journalism, beat reporting, international journalism, food writing and copy editing. While at Berkeley, I also earned the I.F. Stone Academic Fellowship, for which I trained in non-profit communications at Human Rights Watch in New York. After graduation, I also earned a certificate in social media for content creators from UC Berkeley's Advanced Digital Media Center.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As an undergraduate political science major at UCLA, I wrote for the Los Angeles Sentinel, an influential African-American newspaper, where I covered the city's complicated racial politics. After graduate school, I began writing and editing for United Nations organizations, including the World Food Programme, UNICEF and UNAIDS. Today I still work as a writer/editor for international organizations, while also bringing my expertise home to local clients in academia, tech, education and health.
