- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I begin working with a new client I start by helping them map out some goals. The more specific the goals are, the easier it will be for both of us to track how the counseling is going. Once I understand what they would like to work on then I make a custom plan for how to reach their goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my B.A. degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley, a yearlong Sex and Relationship Coach training certificate from the Somatica Institute, and I am in the process of getting certified in Somatic Experiencing, which is a trauma healing modality.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My counseling career began as a way to expand my background in peace work. In teaching peace for many years, I realized that the cycle of violence often begins with unhealed wounds or trauma that people act out on each other and society. I decided I want to prevent violence at the source and help people work through their conflicts and develop emotional mastery.
