FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is difficult to just give a flat price per sq. ft. due to all the many variables. I may bid too cheap or to expensive that way. I like to bid the job based on what needs to be done, then I can give a more accurate bid based on the needs of the customer. For example if I give a flat price per sq. ft. then get to the job a see that it has vaulted ceilings and 12ft walls. I would need more materials than initially calculated. The colors, price, itemization of work to be completed and materials will all be agreed on and signed off on by the customer and me, no hidden fees or unnecessary costs or materials. ideally I like to have half up front and the other half upon completion, and satisfaction of the customer. I am not responsible if the customer does not like the colors of paint or stain of their choosing. I can provide samples to avoid color regret.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am very flexible, and do my best to accommodate the needs of the customer. I can give a sight unseen bid, and discuss what the customer is wanting. we can do this via, email, text, or by phone call. If the bid is within the price range of the customer, we can set up a time to see the job together, and go over everything. the final price will be discussed and agreed upon before any work is started. The paint colors will be agreed upon. each color with its color code along with which room, or area that, will be painted will be documented and signed by the customer to avoid mistakes in color. this keeps everyone on the same page.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have on the job experience, and training on painting and special finishes. I was trained and worked for a very reputable family owned painting company, that has been in operation since the late 1930s. I learned the best way to mix and apply the materials, from master painters with many tricks of the trade. I have mechanical aptitude from 1 year of diesel mechanics school, 6 years working in the trade. I also have a paramedic degree and work in EMS as my current trade while trying to grow my own painting business now.
