Introduction: I love taking complex issues, analyzing them, and presenting them in the clearest possible way through the medium of language. My writing style is a mix of analytical and emotional intelligence with a streak of fun and/or sarcasm upon request (actually, those come standard; *lack* of sarcasm or fun is upon request).
Fiction, non-fiction, professional bios, personal letters that you just can't quite seem to find the right words for, thank-you notes, or whatever else you don't want to mess with - I can take care of that for you. I spent most of 2016 writing a 500 page report on two sex abuse cases (glad to be done with that!); marketing materials, blog posts, and customer communication for my husband's real estate photography business; and a few theology blog posts and sci-fi/fantasy short stories. Yes, that is a disparate pile of words. Let me take care of yours.
I love precision in language. I'm not talking about the type of repetitive, formulaic precision found in machines or computer code, but rather the thrill that comes from finding the exact word or phrase to describe your feelings or thoughts to the reader.
Language is magic. When used effectively, it is a transportation device capable of beaming your thoughts into someone else's head through the medium of written or spoken word. It lets you speak to or hear from someone who died thousands of years ago or who lives thousands of miles from you. It knows no bounds of distance or time. Language used poorly conveys a muddy, incomplete, or garbled image of what you have in your head. Language used well presents your very self to someone else. That's why I love what I do.
