FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most project descriptions require more details in order to give you a useful proposal. I'm not being cagey; I simply need to understand exactly what you're after. No worries though – a 15 (or so) minute call should give us both the information we need about whether or how to go forward.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Even before the proposal is accepted, I try to converse with the client: first to understand what exactly how the need arose. Some clients want simple obedience from the designer; others appreciate a collaborative relationship. If the proposal is accepted, then I typically confirm the timetable and milestones, and spell out the responsibilities of the designer and of the client. The goal is to proceed smoothly and methodically once started. I see part of my job as challenging you (respectfully), not so that you'll simply accept my solution but to make sure you've considered certain factors. Clients willing to dig deep for the 'truth' of the situation usually benefit the most, knowing their project is well-rooted in reality.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
25+ years experience serving small businesses and individuals, including 9 years in a corporate communications environment. I'm also experienced hiring other designers, illustrators, writers and fabricators.
