- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've loved making videos since I was little. My cousins and I would create silly videos and had so much fun doing it. In high school, I took a media class where we created a television news program with both serious and fun features. That led me to college where I studies television arts, which is different than creative cinematography, but I still got to learn the basics of camera function and editing processes. I also worked for my university's athletics program on the video production team that partnered with ESPN3 to stream sporting events live. With my campus ministry, I developed, shot, and edited many of the creative videos for our large events. I knew I loved telling stories and capturing special moments, so I bought my own DSLR, tripod, stabilizer, batteries, SD cards, bag, etc. and started shooting photos and video. One of my first times practicing was with my wife, Jessica, as we went on a date to Tower Park in Peoria Heights, IL. I loved getting to create that with her. Then our friends starting realizing that I finally had the proper equipment and started booking me for their proposals and weddings. And here we are!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Both the marriage proposal and wedding highlights films were an absolute blast to shoot! There was so much laughter and joy involved. For the marriage proposal, the shoot happened Saturday night and I had it sent to them by Sunday evening. For the wedding day film, the shoot was on Friday and I had it sent to them by Monday evening.
