FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing for alterations are different from the prices utilized for custom sewing and designing of garments. When sewing garments I look at the design, materials being used and what style I am creating. They should understand that custom made garments are made based on their actual measurements; therefore, the cost would be greater than store bought or ready to wear garments. When placing a custom order the customer will be required to pay a deposit which is half the cost of the garment.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For custom sewing there is a contract that will be sign, measurements taken and deposit paid. When meeting with a new customer for alterations, we discuss their need, they try the garment on and I mark where the alteration is needed, the customer leave the garment and I start the work. The work is based on date needed and not date dropped off. In some instance I offer emergency service based on an additional fee.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have pattern making, sewing, designing, altering and some embroidery skills. I utilize a computer to generate my patterns as well as create them by hand through the use of measurements.
