FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Beginning January 1, 2016, my standard rates are $25 per hour for either writing or editing or $2 per 250 words for editing and $0.25 per word for writing. I am happy to provide individualized pricing for projects such as book editing, web content creation, or social media packages.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask questions to get a sense of what the customer needs. For editing, I'll then edit a portion of the document(s) and have the customer review my initial edits to see if I'm delivering the way the customer hoped. For writing, I'll create a draft and submit it for approval. After the initial work is complete, I'll revise or adjust as necessary to make sure the customer gets what she needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.Phil. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh (2009) and an MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University (2013). I am the current managing editor for Eleventh Stack, a review blog by employees of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. I contribute to The Rumpus and have previously worked for a community newspaper, a local travel company, and independent authors.
