Introduction: James Knox has been a photojournalist in the Pittsburgh area for over 20 years. Working full-time at the Pittsburgh Tribune for 18 years and amassing a long client list including Heinz Kraft, Purina-Nestle,The Associated Press and Absolut Vodka as well as local colleges, universities and private schools including Robert Morris University, LaRoche College and Shady Side Academy. He has covered the Iraq war from the decks of the USS George Washington aircraft carrier, the Army Golden Knights parachute team from 3,000 feet and Monday Night Football while winning national and region awards for his work. His freelance opportunities have given the chance for him to shine in product, food and event coverage as well as destination weddings and corporate headshots and portraiture. I love capturing moments and telling stories. As a newspaper photographer, photojournalism isn't just a style, it's my every day.

James has taken several family pictures for us (sometimes with groups up to 16) and my daughter's senior pictures. His photos are always high quality and well edited, but also original. He has an eye to catch a moment that I haven't seen in many photographers. Also my daughter's senior pictures did not look like everyone else's in her class. Everything is very personalized.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The more than 20 years I have spent as a photojournalist has provided me with the ability to capture the big moments and everything in between. I have spent the better part of my career telling stories and my efforts to perfect that craft has provided me with an extra edge when it comes to covering events where even the small moments matter.
