1st Call Excavating and Construction is more than just a man and a machine. Tim, the owner and operator for the equipment, is exceptionally talented and knowledgeable. Not only did he perform the excavating and plumbing lines as we originally contracted with him do, but he also gave us priceless advice on the project and truly treated us like family. Tim worked on a rather delicate excavating project here at Historic Smithfield, where he had to maneuver heavy equipment with fine precision on a state landmark. He went above and beyond in his care of the historic site. He always checked and double checked to make sure everything was not only completed professionally to the rigid contractor standards and codes, but also to the standards of historic preservation. Overall, Historic Smithfield was very pleased with Tim and his company and would highly recommend his services. One final note, which should likewise speak to his character, while Tim was cutting the line through a heavily wooded section of the property with a rather large piece of equipment, he slightly disturbed a nest of a catbirds. I witness him gently work around the nest the rest of the project and even get out of the back hoe a time or two to check on the fledglings and mother. I really appreciate his care, attention to detail, work ethic, willingness to explain, and general good nature. Tim is easy to work with and you can truly trust his commitment to finish the project to meet your requirements and his high standards.

I had 1st Call grade my driveway and install gravel approximately 1/2 mile long. The work they did was terrific. Showed up when they said they would, stayed within budget and did the work that I requested and some extra work at no extra charge. I plan on using 1st Call to build my new garage in the near future. I would recommend them to anyone.
