FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve actually been surrounded by the construction trades my entire life. Just about every male in my family is in one of the construction trades, so I grew up learning from the pros. Once I had about 15 years of experience in several different trades, as well as learning the ins and outs of running a business and of course customer service, I decided to start my own business, and Schneider Remodeling has been growing ever since.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, from families, small businesses, apartment complexes, all the way up to huge fine dining restaurants in Chicago.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Definitely get the contractor to give you a in home estimate, which should be free. And get it In writing or email form. And ask lots of questions, ask them what is included with their price. For example, many paint companies will give you a great price, however they may not tell you that the price doesn’t include any doors, trim, or window frames, and most of the time they give you a price for one color paint, and not more than 2 coats of paint. Another common tactic used by some of the less than honest contractors is offering a great price, and then when they are about to begin, they will ask you if you would like them to clean the surfaces before they paint... obviously painting over dirt will not look very good, so unless you are prepared to start scrubbing, you might end up having to pay more than you were quoted.
