FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We offer our Thumbtack customers competitive prices, but deliver gallery quality work! Generally speaking, my Thumbtack wedding rate is a flat hourly rate for single photographer coverage. This includes all photos, edited and delivered in high-res with print rights from my secure web site. How much coverage do you need? Typically, I start shooting an hour before the ceremony (2 hours for larger weddings) until some time into the reception. Later in the reception, after the toasts are done, the first dances danced, and the food has been eaten is usually not the best time for pictures, anyway. Tip: Consider having a "faux sendoff" an hour before the end of the wedding. More people will still be there to hold sparklers (or whatever else you have planned) and then you can go back in and enjoy the rest of the party until the very end.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For weddings I like to have an initial consultation just to talk through your day (as much as you know now, any way). Often, I'm able to make suggestions that couples find very helpful in their planning. We'll decide how much coverage you really need and then I'm able to provide you with a straightforward price. I often work with couples to find solutions that are within their budget. Everyone should have beautiful photographs of their wedding! I typically deliver photos within 1 week. That's right 1 week, edited and available for download. Many photographers take up to 30 days to deliver your photos and then ask you which ones you would like edited.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a full-time, professional photographer and have been shooting longer that most of my customers have been alive. I shot overseas in the Army when I was young. Later, I trained at the New York Institute of Photography in NYC. I have a degree in Computer Science and an MBA, so also I know how to use a computer and do good business!
