FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The standard session fee is $120, private pay. The initial consultation is free. I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. A limited number of sliding fee times are available, based on financial hardship. I will provide necessary records to clients for out-of-network insurance claims.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A healthy working relationship between client and counselor is critical to success, so I spend the first meeting focused on whether we can build a good working relationship together. That first consultation is free and typically lasts about 75 minutes. If we find we can work together, we will set up a schedule, agree on fees, and set goals. If not, I will work to help you find a better fit with another counselor. I tailor the techniques I use to the strengths of each client. My goal is to help each client find their path to thriving on their own terms. Usually we meet in session once a week; once clients find their path and adjust to it, we often decide together to meet less frequently until they are confident going forward.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My basic training is a Masters degree in counseling and psychotherapy from the Adler Graduate School. I have special training to help people who have experienced trauma from injuries, assaults, or abuse, including EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT. I also have special training in relational counseling, crisis response, group techniques, and complex grief and loss. I have training in using mindfulness techniques and over 20 years as a tai chi practitioner. I am an active member of the International Association for Trauma Professionals, the American Counseling Association, and the North American Society for Adlerian Psychology.
