- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Depending on the type of writing involved, my current rates run at about $100 per every 10,000 words for proof reading and substantive edits.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish, as well as experience as an Editor and Publisher for a magazine.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When finding editors for my own work, the most important thing was finding someone who had writing samples that matched the type/style of the project I was working on. For example, I was working on a fiction piece and I hired someone who had writing samples from a self-help book they had written. I didn't end up liking the service I received very much, and I think that was a result of the editor's lack of experience with fiction writing.
