FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with talking to prospective clients about what you'd like and what you are looking for, and to get an idea of your budget. A vision or dream board can be very helpful. I then create an estimate based on our conversation. Once the estimate is finalized and the contract is signed, I get to work gathering and planning out the project. I do like to meet my clients in person at least once if possible. And whenever schedules permit, I like to visit the flower mart with my client close to the event date to see what is in season and which flowers you prefer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an art background. I’m a master hand weaver and ceramicist. I take my education in composition, color coordination, and textures into my floral design and so create a work of art in each arrangement I make.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always loved playing with flowers as a child. I would buy store bought flowers and rearrange them before putting them in the vase. In 2015, I started working with a wedding coordinator and she encouraged me to start doing floral and decor for her weddings. There was one wedding at the end of 2105, where I managed the decor but not the bridal flowers. Before the dinner reception, the bride and I are standing at the bar, and she looks a the bar arrangement and says “Now why did I have any other florist do my bouquet when *this* is what I really wanted?” I knew at that point I would become a florist.
