Our rates start at $55 per hourly session. We recommend at least 2 sessions per week.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You may have noticed that your childs grades were slowly slipping from Bs to Cs and now the latest report card even carries a few Ds, or perhaps your childs teacher has mentioned that your child has trouble paying attention in class. Many times, parents find out about academic problems when children come them in tears, because they cant understand their homework or feel overwhelmed with their workload. Step Two The Consultation A concerned parent contacts us, and we schedule a free tutoring consultation. During this meeting we discuss the students current academic challenges with the parents. The consultation gives us a chance to understand the students particular situation and for us to explain our services in more detail. Step Three Baseline Testing After the parent signs up for a tutoring package, we perform a baseline test of the student. This simple test is tailored to the childs grade level and allows us to assess their current progress in each of their subjects. The results of the test give us a baseline from which to measure progress. Step Four Designing a Students Tutoring Program The results of the baseline test allow us to create a personalized tutoring program for each student. The program also includes skills training to help students become better learners. All of our tutoring programs incorporate research-based teaching methods. Step Five Creating Benchmarks We want to ensure that our tutoring program is actually helping to improve a students comprehension. When we design a students tutoring program, we also create benchmark goals and a re-assessment schedule. Step Six Matching Students with a Tutor Our tutors often take on the role of mentor and friend to their students, so it is very important to find a good personality match for each student. We also ensure that the tutor we pick has the training and ability to teach the subjects the student needs to learn. Step Seven Bring Teachers and the School into the Loop To ensure that the lessons our tutors teach matches up with what a student is learning in the classroom, we reach out to the students teachers and school and invite them to be part of the tutoring process. Step Eight Tutoring and Mentorship When the tutoring sessions begin, the one of our fully vetted and trained tutors will meet a student at home where the student feels comfortable and relaxed. Every tutoring session is different and will depend on the needs of the student. A tutor may work on helping a student with fundamental skills like understanding sentence structure or review homework together or spend some time talking about the students school concerns. Weve found that over time students tend to develop a strong and positive rapport with their tutors. Tutors provide ongoing, positive reinforcement as the student grasps new concepts and makes improvements. This helps students rebuild confidence and shift negative associations with school into a growing passion for learning.
