Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I offer saliva hormone testing, ALCAT food sensitivity testing and Micronutrient testing. I am also trained in blood chemistry analysis. So if you've been to several practitioners/doctors and have had "every test" run, I can usually see something in your blood work that has been missed. And if your blood work looks good to me too, then ALCAT testing is the next step to fining out if some common food you eat is causing your problems. I enjoy what I do because I help people who have been told there is nothing more that can be done, or been told "that comes with getting older." There's always hope.

I was looking for a holistic nutritionist in the Charleston, WV area, in 2011. I did a google search and found Karen Roth. After contacting her I learned she is actually from Charleston but lived in San Diego and would be able to do a phone consultation. I thought that was a wonderful service so I hired her. I was needing help with a few issues, such as numerous hot flashes and bloating. Karen shipped me a saliva kit. After I received the test results, Karen was able to help balance my hormones with some nutrition counseling and herbal supplements. In addition, she quickly was able to tell I was possibly gluten intolerant and almost certainly had leaky gut after a blood test determined I showed no evidence of taking any B vitamins, when in fact I was taking very high grade. I was not absorbing them and she suspected gluten. After a few weeks off gluten, my stomach was back to normal and the bloating ceased. I have since continued to go to Karen for nutritional advice. This year I had inflammatory issues that she was able to immediately pinpoint and help me with. Karen is a quality nutritionist and I think anyone who hires her will be happy they did so.

I am very grateful to have found Karen. I was looking for someone that will help figure out which supplements I should take in order to get me body in balance. I've been working with different holistic doctors and practitioners over the years and what I appreciate about Karen is that: 1. She is giving undivided attention (not running from one patient/client to another or rushing you). 2. She is thorough. She sent me to do a blood work and saliva test, she took my food and supplement intake (I added a hair analysis) and then she sat with all that information BEFORE I came to see her and was ready with her analysis to go over with me. 3. She helped me to research different supplements and keep my costs down. She never tried to push any of the products that she recommended. She always gave me options and I did what was right for me. 4. She is proactive and strive to educate and change what is hurting us. For example, when we explore together how to eliminate soy consumption from my diet, she wrote emails to companies who produce great products yet include soy in them, she asked them in the email if it is possible for them to take the soy out. That's what I mean, being proactive. She doesn't stop where a door is closed and that's the kind of person that I like working with. AND Karen is also giving lectures and has published a book together with her husband Steve Roth "I married a nutritionist", I love the book, read it together with my husband. We have implemented each of the tips we've learned there. Karen is honest, punctual and I simply felt and feel that I am in good hands. I highly recommend to anyone who wishes to create balance in their life through nutrition and supplements to choose Karen as your personal holistic nutritionist. A little over 10 years ago I experienced fatigue, occasional shortness of breath and low libido. Saw several different physicians and had numerous tests done and was placed on many different drugs without help. I decided then to see nutritionist Karen Roth who had me keep a log of everything I ate and did a sputum test. Test showed my hormonal level being off and she had started me on some supplements and had me change my diet. I am so thankful that I found Karen because within 3 months I no longer experience the shortness of breath, or low libido and I have more energy. Its been over 10 years and I am 68 years old and not on any prescription medicines. Thank you Karen.

Karen did a thorough review of my diet and blood work and came up with an easy to follow plan of action. Her analysis of blood work is far more thorough than the regular doctor and she explains how it all fits together and how to deal with the gaps with food and supplements. She is very creative with ideas for alternative foods and her recipes are awesome. I have no hesitation in recommending Karen as an excellent nutritionalist!
