Mr. Welsh has helped me take my music to a professional grade level in the last 2 years working with him. He has mixed and mastered 2 of my label’s EP’s so far, and I would highly recommend his work to any artist who is serious about their craft, and desires taking their music to the next level. Samuel has years of studying under his belt in not only music engineering, but in music theory as well. Aside from being a multi-talented individual, his passion in QUALITY music and sound seeps through his work. In addition he is very approachable, and down to earth, especially when discussing the different options of taking a mix. He has a hard worker and has even been as flexible as completing same-day mastering on tracks at times, when I needed a track completed for music licensing for a client's YouTube Vlog. My brother and I used Samuel's mixing and mastering service on our EP earlier this year. I had tried my best cleaning up the low end of our mix, (we make club music) and finally decided to give Samuel a shot. I have to admit I was a bit hesitant allowing someone else to touch our music. Sam however, was very transparent and made sure he understood what sound we wanted to achieve in our mix. After about a week turnaround, he had our 2 track EP sounding exactly how we wanted it, and was pristine and ready to play on nightclub sound systems. Sometimes we need a fresh pair of ears to help achieve the sound we’re looking for. Not only is Sam adequate for the job, but he has the character to understand the delicacy of treating an individual piece of art. I look forward to working with him again this summer. I'm working on redefining the sound and feel of the current state of "dance music." I hired Samuel to master my track and really help clear up the muddiness in the low end. I my baseline to have a "Sade-like" natural bounce, but still have the drums to have the warmth,thump and futuristic sound of techno. Samuel was patient with me and helped me feel confident in not being complacent during revisions, until I was pleased with the final sound of my track. I highly recommend anyone looking for an experienced engineer, mixed with a great understanding human being. Wishing you continued success Samuel. Sam gave me a great instructional session about sound recording over the phone. In a friendly yet grounded way, he explained much of the nuts and bolts that goes into capturing sound in a studio or field environment. We covered a lot in our hourlong session, from microphones and gear, to principles like compression and EQ, and audio software. It was a helpful 'crash course' for someone looking to potentially enter the field of audio professionally. It was clear he knew what he was talking about and he explained everything in a very clear manner. I wish him much success on Thumbtack and hope we will speak again soon.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Mixing - $50 per track Mastering - $50 per track 5 or more tracks - 20% discount *Free* Rough sample - Before hiring, I am willing to send you a 1 minute portion of a fast mix and/or master of any of your tracks. This will give you a general idea of what your track will sound like with my services.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All services can be handled via email, dropbox, and phone. No need to spend time meeting in person, unless you desire to do so. What I need to know: 1. How many tracks would you like to be worked on? 2. Do you want mixing, mastering, or both? 3. Do you have access to all channels exported seperately in high quality? (Only necessary for mixing) 4. What is your intention with these tracks? 5. What loudness level would you like? (Spotify/iTunes/YouTube etc. have different required LUFS levels compared to an audio CD or personal website player) 6. Are you able to provide a reference track in a similar genre as yours, of which you would like your mixed and/or mastered track to sound like?
