I was selected to provide Photography and Videography services for the 242nd Marine Corps Ball held downtown at the Marriott Marquee off Harbor Drive in San Diego. The space was huge: 29,000sf with approximately 1,200 attendees. Being selected to cover the event was such an honor and I really enjoyed working with the Sergeant responsible for organizing everything. I decided to outsource an additional Photographer with whom I have worked with before from Los Angeles and a talented Videographer I met a few months ago who’s based out of San Diego. As far as the amount of time the project took, I’d say it has taken about 3 weeks total. After a few email exchanges and one telephone conversation, myself and the videographer me the Sergeant on base in Miramar to sign agreement and further discuss wants and needs from event. We met again later that same day at event space (Marriott) with the Sergeant and Marriott’s Event Representative. After viewing and discussing lighting, event time table, etc. I told the sergeant an additional photographer would be needed and we was 100% on board (space is huge!!) Over the next 2 weeks, I spent my days researching different types of equipment and strategizing with the 2nd photographer. Two days prior to event, second photographer arrived and I showed him space as well. We were all very excited and nervous however when it came to “showtime”, everything went off without a hitch. My entire team went to the event rehearsal and set up and stayed from then all the way to the events end. Everything was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed working for all these brave young men and woman. Interesting Facts: • Total photos taken at event: approximately 3200. • Time taken to sort through photos for best 80: 3 Days. • Time taken to edit Video thats 30-45 minutes, 14 days — 10 hours a day. ***** • TODAY (Monday November 29th) we will be delivering all photos with video to be completed and delivered by Friday. (Event was held November 11th).
