- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally the tutoring runs between $60-$90/hour depending on the time, location and length of commitment. Sessions at these rates have a 1.5 hour minimum. Shorter session are billed at a higher rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For college entrance essays - some students have writing block. I interview the students, and empower them to see what their unique qualities are. I take notes from which the student can develop their ideas into an essay that I can assist with for final polishing. For academic tutoring, I see what challenges or goals the student may have and give them a broad view to help see how this class fits into the big picture. For career consulting, I work with the customer to see what their objectives are and mutually develop a plan to get them there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Teaching and Education has been central to my career; I worked as a professor at the International Black Sea University and the Georgian University of Social Sciences for three years and as a full-time teacher at a Spanish language school for one year. Building confidence and helping youth to speak their minds are essential skills and part of my tutoring practice: I mentored and taught advocacy to young adults and adults on human rights campaigns in Argentina and the Republic of Georgia. On the big picture, I worked on education policy and reform in the former Soviet Union in the Republic of Georgia for two years at the Georgian Ministry of Education. My academic background is diverse learning both at university and through practice in internships. As a child I never really understood why people would fight so much and with my grandfather fighting in World War I. For those reasons I decided to do my Masters' in Conflict Studies at the London School of Economics. I graduated magna cum laude from Boston University in Comparative Politics and French. I believe strongly in the need to be a renaissance man or woman so my studies also included the arts in great depths: dance, art history, literature, humanities, philosophy and anthropology. I spent time studying at L'Institut des Etudes Politiques (Political Science University) in Paris. I interned with a UN-partnered organization that educates youth about the linkage of drug usage with trafficking and human rights abuses. To broaden my education, I interned with a political party on a winning presidential campaign and to balance the politics, I also studied flamenco.
