FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most are not aware that the floral industry is anything but standard. Each client is an individual and therefore the quote provided is unique and customized. Flowers can be had in multiple grades or tiers of quality. Color choice, number of petal layers, stem length, sourcing (and sustainability of) location, seasonability and expected length of life all play a factor in pricing. With that said, I always provide a detailed quote to my customers before moving forward. Complete transparency on the process from the beginning is a requirement. If the pricing changes up or down, I share that information with the client.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I like to get to know my client, really delving into their floral vision. If it's a wedding, what is the theme, dream, and budget? Or if it's a corporate event, is it seasonal or celebratory? Are there corporate colors that should be included? These details all help me guide the conversation in a direction that ensures the client gets what they want. I'm here to help realize the client vision, not my own.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a florist for over 10 years. I started at the very beginning: as an apprentice. I learned floral concept and theory and from there I've had jobs in all different stages of the floral industry. I've worked in a small wedding-only floral boutique. I've been the manager of a grocery store floral department with a team of people. I've also worked in a traditional florist shop. I have had the opportunity to learn, and sometimes teach, at every step.
