Introduction: Welcome to my page! I help ESL and non-native English speaking students improve their ability to hold a conversation in English and break free from the anxiety, shyness, and wall that the students feel when trying to speak in their non-native language. Many students are very good at reading and writing in English, but do not have confidence to speak in English. High school, University, and career-aged students benefit greatly from one-on-one tutoring sessions as they are able to build confidence, focus on what is being said, and formulate thoughtful replies. This will help students prepare for speaking in academic and work settings and generally in their day-to-day lives. Hiring me as your private tutor for oral communication practice, you will improve in these following areas: - Daily conversation - Oral communication - Anxiety reduction when speaking in English - Elongate responses and even feel comfortable telling short stories in English All levels of English proficiency are welcome. You do not have to be comfortable speaking English before you hire me! We will work on that. The focus of each session to start will be on daily conversation. This will help put you at ease when discussing day-to-day things about yourself and your life. If you need help with a particular subject or topic area, we can focus on that as well. Examples include the following: - Interview preparation - Business meetings - School presentations Consistency is key. It is best to meet regularly for short time periods (one hour), rather that infrequently for a long period of time (3-4 hours). My experience includes: - Tutor/group leader at my University's Center for English as a Second Language for visiting college students, providing English tutoring, conversation practice, and field trips - Taught English at an English cram-school in Japan, ages 5-16 (individual and small-group classes, focusing on oral communication and anxiety reduction) - University degree (Bachelors of Arts) in Language and Culture - University courses in teaching English as a component of bi-lingual education - Taught oral communication and conducted conversation lessons to young adults (Korean) - Taught a community based organization (Ghana) - Taught English at a village trade-school to students ages 13-21 (India) I have taught on and off for over 10 years. I have a professional career as well and am also a proposal writer, editor, and proofreader.
