FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Photos please! I really need to see piece to know what is needed and to be able to give an accurate quote. I also like to have a detailed consultation to find out what people want and what they want the piece to be used for, e.g. if it is a dining table that will have years of use then a hard wearing finish is needed!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No formal training, just years of experience, an eye for detail, and a perfectionist character. I've built my own doors and windows for my home and they are still looking good.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always loved working with wood, I remember helping dad around the house as a child and was always happier when working with my hands. Over the years I found that more and more people would come to me with pieces to repair or restore and so when I semi-retired from my work as a software engineer it was just a natural step to turn my hobby into a business.
